Kumamoto YMCA provides Japanese language education about "life, school, work".

【Short-term course】Three-month course、Private lessons、Corporate lessons etc.
The three-month course is for those who live in Kumamoto and those who come to Kumamoto on a sightseeing visa or working holiday visa. Please feel free to contact us for private lessons or corporate lessons. We will propose lesson contents according to each request.

【Japanese Language School】Kumamoto YMCA College Japanese Department
We have a one and a half year course (entry in April) and a two year course (entry in October). These courses are mainly for those who want to go to a Japanese university or vocational school. Those who have a visa such as a dependent, spouse, or permanent resident can also take the course from 6 months. Please feel free to contact us.

【Vocational School】Kumamoto YMCA College Global Communication Department
This is a one-year course that aims to help students to find employment or enter special training courses.
The aim of learning Japanese is to pass the JLPT N2. Exam. There are also classes such as business manners and computer training that are useful for finding employment. For details, please refer to the website.

On 7th Jan. 2014

All students enjoyed OSHO-GATSU of the Japanese traditional culture!!! In the OSHO-GATSU,there are so many events called KARUTA,MOCHITUKI,KAKIZOME and so on.

KAKIZOME is writing a word with a brush.
KARUTA is playing cards.
MOCHITUKI is pounding cooked rice to make raice cakes.

Christmas Service

Every year, very last day before winter holiday, students attend the Christmas service at church. This year service was held at Higashi Kumamoto Church on Dec.14th. We wish students a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year ! Looking forward to seeing you on Jan. 8th when school starts again.

Y's Mens Club Christmas Party

5 students were invited to a Christmas party held by Kumamoto Janes Y's Mens Club on Dec.10th 2012. Y's Mens Club is an International volunteer organization its main purpose is to cooperate with YMCA in various programs. Students performed a dance to the famous Japanese song called"Maru Maru Mori Mori" and participants loved it!They seemed to have enjoyed the party very much.

Street fundraising

Kumamoto YMCA carried out the Street fundraising at 12 places in Kumamoto Prefecture. Approximately 600 volunteers and staffs including 8 oversea students joined in.As a result, 566,054yen was raised.

The donation will be used for international cooperation, community service and youth development and various purposes including the disaster reconstruction aid.

Interaction with youth volunteers

YMCA encourages students to participate in various YMCA programs. On Nov.16th, 2012, nine students went to Kamitori YMCA and had an interaction with International youth volunteers. This time they had a debate about early English Education. It was very difficult for oversea students to discuss in Japanese but it seemed that this opportunity gave them good motivation to study hard in order to communicate with Japanese.

JLPT

JLPT 2012 will take place on Dec.2nd.The test voucher has arrived on thursday Nov.15th. Students have two more weeks to study for the test!

EJU

The Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU)　was held on Nov.11th,2012 and 18 students from Kumamoto YMCA took the exam. They went to the Examination sites(Kyushu Sangyo Univ. and Kyushu Kyoritu Univ.) by taking the YMCA bus. Thy will decide which university to enter according to the result of the EJU.

Interaction with elementary students

Intermidiate level students went to Takuma Minami Elementary School on Nov. 6th and had an interaction with children. Oversea students introduced the culture, greetings, famous places, food of their country. Children were so excited to come in touch with foreign culture.

Potato fund

On October 27th 2012, 5 students joined in a volunnteer work in order to help "potato fund". It was a good opportunity for them to interact with Japanese volunnteers.
